Meet Erika Thomas
Candidate for School Board in the new Utah Timpanogos School District Seat 2
Erika started her career teaching students in inner-city Phoenix in a Title I district, where 98% of students are multilingual learners. This grew her passion for supporting all students’ learning at high levels. Her students consistently outperformed the district and state averages on assessments, which led to her supporting and collaborating with teachers across the district. During this time, she pioneered and led her grade-level team as her school became a STEM school. Erika also met her husband, Patrick, of 14 years while she was teaching in Phoenix. Their first date was at Disneyland, which brought joy and countless experiences for their family to make many memories around Disney. They have three living children who mean the world to them. They love to travel together as a family, and when they are not traveling, their children enjoy being a part of the BYU Adaptive Show Choir, Irish Dancing, and swimming. Erika enjoys reading; one of her favorite series is the Study Series by Maria V. Snyder. When not reading, she enjoys cooking new recipes with Patrick, going to movies, singing in her car, and spending time with her family. Erika loves serving others. She has given thousands of hours through Kiwanis, Church, and Education Association. Her motto throughout her life is to “leave this world better than I found it.” She looks for ways to make a difference in others’ lives.

Erika is a dedicated and hardworking person. She values integrity, transparency, collaboration, and listening to others. She wants everyone to be a part of the conversation and solutions as we navigate this new journey of building a school district together- Timpanogos Together. As we embrace the challenges ahead of us, we have the opportunity to think creatively and build a future that keeps our students, teachers, parents, and community at the heart and center of what we do.
Commitment. Empathy. Partnership.
On August 12, 2025, vote in the primary elections for Erika Thomas for Timpanogos School Board.
